For those of you who may not know him, I'd like to introduce Vernon Henry, the creator and founder of the Flexercise Training Method and The Flexercise for Kids Program. Vernon is a native of San Diego, California. Early in his athletic career Vernon learned the benefits of proper stretching. This knowledge propelled him from a mediocre high school athlete, to an All Conference football player, 3rd in the nation in receiving in 1978, Co-AP back of the week with Billy Simms (78) and into the professional arenas as a rookie in 1979 with the San Diego Chargers. It was during this time that the Flexercise program was conceived. While completing his academic career at California State University, Long Beach, and a Masters of Education degree in Physical Education, from Azusa Pacific University, Vernon began to do extensive research on the impact, effects, and benefits of flexibility on the human body. His knowledge and findings became an integral part of sports programs in city colleges and state universities where he served as a football, track and field coach and associate professor of physical education. Vernon was given the name Flexercise in a dream. He owns the trade name and trade mark, both being in the library of congress. In 1986, as a result of his years of research, the Flexercise Method of fitness was created. Vernon has been member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and The California Association of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Majors, and is an Ordained Minister. Flexercise has been taught as a Personal Training Certificate at Houston Community College and Los Angeles Southwest Colleges. Currently, Vernon is Adjunct Faculty in the Kinesiology Department Lone Star College- Cy-Fair in Cypress Texas, and a Coach and Physical Educator for Cy-Fair Independent School District. http://www.cafepress.com/flexercise
